"Afterlife"
This series is about our fragility within the universe. I first began this series as a way of working through my fear and sorrow when 2 of my family members were diagnosed with cancer within months of each other.
"Afterlife" was accepted into The de Young Open, a juried community art exhibition celebrating the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco 125th anniversary.
"Just Breathe"
I contracted Omicron over a year ago while visiting our son in Kenya. I haven’t recovered. I sought a creative way to process what I was going through so began to design self-portraits, combining photos of myself lying in bed with medical illustrations and images of spiderwebs.
"Four Pillars"
This image is from the series "Tikkum Olum" (Repairing the World).
I spent 3 years documenting these beautiful, old synagogues in central and eastern Europe. Genocide did not end with the holocaust and here and now, in our sadly broken country, we are forgetting where the devastating effects of intolerance can lead.
"Mariana"
From the series "Abstractions" - whether it's the inside of a tiny shell, a broken window screen, the detail of a fence or a scarf floating in the water... anything can be abstracted!
"Beginning"
From the series "Symbiosis." Jellies pulse, they almost seem to breathe. They move with such dreamlike precision, it’s almost as if they could be flying. I picture them soaring through the galaxies, making the connection between water and sky.
"Bosque del Apache"
From the series "Water" features my ongoing delight in this element - how it continually changes depending on lighting, atmosphere and whatever the water is reflecting.
